About Blackpool Pleasure Beach

Blackpool is a seaside town in Lanchasire, England, situated along the coast of the Irish Sea, 40 miles north-west of Manchester and less than 30 miles north of Liverpool City centre. It is famous for its vast array of landmarks and places of interest, its most popular attraction being considered Pleasure Beach theme park.

Blackpool Pleasure Beach is a family owned amusement park and resort situated along the Fylde coast in Blackpool, England. It is recognized as UK's most visited amusement park, welcoming more than 6 million visitors, annually. It is a privately funded business and it is owned, managed and directed by the Thompson family.

This top tourist attraction in Britain stretches on 42 acres and contains more than 125 thrilling rides and attractions. When the park first opened its doors, in 1896, it only had a single ride. That fact quickly changed and the park's fame soon blossomed, attracting more and more visitors, as the years gone by.

The park offers enthusiasts everything from thrilling white-knuckle rides to more leisurely cruises around the River Caves and Alice's Wonderland, ensuring that every visitor, regardless of age or "thrill preference", has the best time of his life.

Attractions

Blackpool Beach is an attraction on its own, but there are also dozens of other appealing attractions just waiting to delight Blackpool visitors in the park's surrounding area, and these attractions include:

The Blackpool Tower, a 518-feet tall attraction which was built in 1894, that houses several other attractions inside, including the magnificent tower top views, the beautiful Tower Ballroom and the Tower Circus.

The Sea Life center, a great place where visitors can enter the colorful and curiosity-arousing sea world, find out interesting things and learn about what the underwater world hides - a fabulous Blackpool attraction, perfect for a day out with the family.

Blackpool Illuminations, an annual event, celebrated in late August, lasting until early November, featuring dozens of km of promenade, lighting the city with beautifully colored, sparkly lights - perhaps, Blackpool's most "photogenic" and eye-catching annual celebration.

Blackpool Zoo, home to numerous funny, cute, large and small animals, gathered from all over the world, including sea lions, monkeys, and of course, the king of the jungle.

Blackpool Trams, an appealing city attraction for both tourists and residents, alike, offering a journey through the city's past and present times, running from Starr Gate in the south to Fleetwood some 12 miles away in the north, highlighting many of Blackpool's major attractions. The trams are an iconic feature of Blackpool and they have appeared not once on TV, Blackpool being the only British Town to maintain its tramways from the first opening in 1885 to the present day.

Ripleys Believe It Or Not, where the odd and unusual becomes real. This interesting exhibition of the "unbelievable" is located at the front of the Pleasure Beach. There are two floors and 8 galleries to amaze and mystify you.

The highly acclaimed Grundy Art Gallery, dating since 1911, featuring ever-changing programmes of captivating exhibitions throughout the year that reveal art works signed by local, national and international artists.
